In the first five months, ASEAN is our largest trading partner, the total value of our trade with ASEAN is 2.77 trillion yuan, an increase of 10.8% .

640.jpgAccording to customs statistics, in the first five months of the 2024 period, the total value of our country's goods trade was RMB 17.5 trillion, an increase of 6.3% over the same period last year. Of this total, exports totaled 9.95 trillion yuan, up 6.1 percent, imports totaled 7.55 trillion yuan, up 6.4 percent, and the trade surplus totaled 2.4 trillion yuan, up 5.2 percent. In dollar terms, in the first five months, the total value of our imports and exports was $2.46 trillion, an increase of 2.8 per cent. Of this total, exports were us $1.4 trillion, up 2.7 percent, imports US $1.06 trillion, up 2.9 percent, and the trade surplus was US $337.2 billion, up 1.8 percent.


In the first five months, the main features of our import and export are as follows:

General trade, processing trade, bonded logistics import and export growth.
In the first five months, the import and export of our general trade 11.4 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.6% , accounting for 65.1% of our total foreign trade value. Of this total, exports totaled 6.56 trillion yuan, up 7.9 percent, and imports totaled 4.84 trillion yuan, up 2.7 percent. Over the same period, imports and exports of processing trade totaled 3.02 trillion yuan, up 1.6 percent or 17.3 percent. Of this total, exports totaled 1.91 trillion yuan, down 2.3 percent, and imports totaled 1.11 trillion yuan, up 9.1 percent. In addition, our country imports and exports by bonded logistics way 2.42 trillion yuan, an increase of 16.5% . Exports totaled 916.39 billion yuan, up 12.5 percent, and imports totaled 1.51 trillion yuan, up 19.2 percent.


Imports and exports to ASEAN, the United States and South Korea increased.

In the first five months, ASEAN is our largest trading partner, the total value of our trade with ASEAN is 2.77 trillion yuan, up 10.8% , accounting for 15.8% of the total value of foreign trade. Exports to ASEAN totaled 1.67 trillion yuan, up 13.5 percent, imports from ASEAN totaled 1.1 trillion yuan, up 7 percent, and the trade surplus with ASEAN totaled 579.19 billion yuan, up 28.1 percent. Eu is our second largest trading partner, the total value of our trade with EU is 2.23 trillion yuan, down 1.3% , accounting for 12.7% . Exports to the EU were 1.45 trillion yuan, down 0.7 percent, imports from the EU were 774.37 billion yuan, down 2.5 percent, and the trade surplus with the EU was 678.02 billion yuan, up 1.5 percent. The United States is the third largest trading partner of our country. The total value of our trade with the United States is 1.87 trillion yuan, up 2% or 10.7% . Exports to the United States totaled 1.39 trillion yuan, up 3.6 percent, imports from the United States totaled 480.45 billion yuan, down 2.6 percent, and the trade surplus with the United States totaled 911.18 billion yuan, up 7.2 percent. Korea is the fourth largest trading partner of our country. The total value of our trade with Korea is 927.43 billion yuan, up 7.4% or 5.3% . Of this total, exports to the ROK totaled 423.8 billion yuan, down 2 percent, imports from the ROK totaled 503.63 billion yuan, up 16.8 percent, and the trade deficit with the ROK totaled 79.83 billion yuan, up from 1.54 billion yuan in the same period last year. Over the same period, the total import and export of our Belt and Road countries was 8.31 trillion yuan, up 7.2 percent. Of this total, exports totaled 4.64 trillion yuan, up 7.9 percent, and imports totaled 3.67 trillion yuan, up 6.4 percent.


Mechanical and electrical products account for nearly 60% of exports.
In the first five months, our export of mechanical and electrical products 5.87 trillion yuan, an increase of 7.9% , accounting for 59% of the total export value. Of this, 554.46 billion yuan, up 9.9 percent, was spent on automatic data processing equipment and its components; 444.73 billion yuan, up 25.5 percent, on integrated circuits; 329.7 billion yuan, up 23.8 percent, on automobiles; and 329.68 billion yuan, down 2.8 percent, on mobile phones. Over the same period, the export of Laomi products totaled 1.69 trillion yuan, up 7.1 percent or 17 percent. Of this total, clothing and apparel accessories totaled 417.09 billion yuan, up 3.5 percent, textiles 405.82 billion yuan, up 6.1 percent, and plastic products 311.67 billion yuan, up 12.1 percent. In addition, exports of agricultural products totaled 283.11 billion yuan, up 3.9 percent, steel products 44.655 million tons, up 24.7 percent, refined oil products 24.724 million tons, down 7.7 percent, and fertilizers 9.648 million tons, down 2.3 percent. Over the same period, imports of mechanical and electrical products totaled 2.68 trillion yuan, up 11.9 percent. Of this total, 213.65 billion integrated circuits, an increase of 14.9 percent, or 1.05 trillion yuan, or 17.1 percent, and 271,000 cars, a decrease of 4.5 percent, or 107.24 billion yuan, or 13.4 percent.
