
The opening of the new route will further consolidate the position of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port as an important hub port of the "21 Century Maritime Silk Road".
The new route’s maiden voyage, operated by the MV Mediterranean Gessania, started from Qingdao and called at Shanghai, before completing loading unloading operations at the Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan and then heading straight to the ports of Brisbane and Sydney in Australia.
The route mainly carries general goods, electronic products, chemical products and building materials from Ningbo and its surrounding areas, realizing direct connection and interoperability Australia's two major hub ports.

The voyage from Ningbo to Brisbane takes only 14 days, significantly compressing the transport lead time compared to traditional transshipment routes, effectively the logistics efficiency between the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the Oceania market, and helping foreign trade enterprises seize the new opportunities at the beginning of the year expand new overseas layouts.
To ensure the efficiency and smoothness of the maiden voyage of the new route, the Cangshan Port Area of Ningbo-Zhoushan has made advance plans and implemented precise strategies. By strengthening the multi-party linkage with ports, shipping companies, and other relevant units, it has been able to grasp the key such as the real-time arrival dynamics of vessels and cargo loading and unloading requirements. In addition, the operational procedures have been optimized simultaneously, and equipment and manpower have scientifically allocated to ensure the safety and efficiency of cargo loading and unloading. This has laid a solid foundation for the smooth maiden voyage and the subsequent normalized operation of the route
